Contemporary art as a value and the value of contemporary art (Gallery and interviews)

Viennafair – one of the most prestigious fairs of contemporary art, took place May 12-15. The focus was Eastern and Central Europe, with an important Bulgarian presence – The Sariev Art Gallery from Plovdiv, the Bulgarian artists living and working abroad – Ivan Mudov and Kamen Stoyanov, curators Yara Bubnova and Desislava Dimova who took part in the accompanying the main programme event curated by_vienna 2011: EAST by SOUTH WEST.There were 120 galleries from 20 countries at the fair. Hundreds of works from different spheres of visual art were on display – paintings, lithography, sculpture, photography, media, installations, performance. Tanya Ivanova talked to interviewees on different aspects of contemporary art, with a special focus on Bulgaria. Tanya Ivanova spoke to Veselina Sarieva from the successful Sariev Art Gallery in Plovdiv, and with contemporary artist Kamen Stoyanov who lives and works in Vienna.
